Superintendent's Welcome!

Welcome to La Cañada Unified School District!

We are enthusiastic to welcome you to the La Cañada Unified School District (LCUSD) community. As we embark on the 2025-2026 school year, we appreciate the opportunity to introduce you to some of the unique and robust programs and services which help to define our district.

About LCUSD

At LCUSD, we pride ourselves on fostering an inclusive and supportive community where every student may thrive. Our district is composed of dedicated educators, qualified staff, and engaged families who work collaboratively to ensure a world class educational experience for our students.

New Programs and Opportunities

This year, we introduced several new courses at LCHS 7-12. These included: Foundations of Art and Design; Advanced Placement Art 3D Design and Drawing; College and Career Center Peer Mentoring; and a redesigned 7/8 Science Technology Engineering Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) elective.

At our elementary school sites, beginning with the 2025-2026 school year, 3rd graders will be “All Day Birds” and attend school from 8:10 a.m. until 2:50 p.m.  More instructional advances will take place as we continue the implementation of the English Language Arts Pacing Guides in grades K-5 and initiate the wider-scale adoption of the Step Up to Writing curriculum - starting with updated District Writing Assessments in all grade levels. LCUSD’s results on last year's CAASPP testing were strong, and teachers are drilling into the performance data to identify student areas for growth and ways to make gains by adjusting instructional practices.

All elementary students enjoy a host of special learning opportunities such as art, music, drama, computer classes, and library.  In 4th grade, LCUSD’s Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program begins.

Facilities and Infrastructure

Our commitment to providing state-of-the-art facilities is unwavering. Over the summer, District administrators presented to Moody’s Financial to maintain the district’s AA1 credit rating and subsequently the district issued its fifth series, Series E, of its 2017 LCF Bond Measure in order to fund the continued construction at Paradise Canyon Elementary (PCY).  With the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year, PCY opened its 2 new buildings housing 20 state of the art classrooms.  At LCHS, Spartan Stadium’s turf and underlying brock pad were replaced and we are excited to see our 7-12 grade students and athletes enjoy the revitalized playing field.

A Thriving Community

The heart of LCUSD lies with its talented and curious students, dedicated staff, and supportive families. Together, we create a community that is unique, vibrant, and committed to academic excellence and student engagement, wellness, and belongingness.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to those considering LCUSD and to our current families. We are grateful for the talented and professional certificated and classified staffs who are an essential part of our learning community.  We celebrate every student for their special contributions and unique selves. We look forward to embarking together on a journey of intellectual achievement and personal fulfillment during the 2025-2026 school year.
